The Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the Faculty of Nursing, University of Colombo, is dedicated to promote and uphold the highest ethical standards in research. The Committee reviews research proposals involving human participants, biological materials, and other health-related research activities to ensure the protection, dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of research participants.
The REC promotes ethical and scientifically rigorous research while fostering integrity, accountability, and responsible research practices among academic staff, researchers, and students.

The Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Nursing, University of Colombo, has been established in accordance with the by-laws, regulations, and policies of the University of Colombo.Members of the Committee are appointed by the Dean upon the recommendation and approval of the Faculty Board. The Research Ethics Committee operates independently in its ethical review processes and is guided by principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability.

The Committee has developed and implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with the guidelines of the Forum for Ethics Review Committees in Sri Lanka (FRECSL) and other relevant national and international ethical standards to ensure consistency and quality in ethical review.
